A WORD FROM OUR TEAM
Career progression
One of the things Blue River is most proud of is our ability to identify and grow talent within our team. Most of Blue River's supervisors and managers have been promoted from within the company. Having started their journeys at Blue River in different roles, they have learned, adapted and grown to become leaders that Blue River and Southland can be proud of.
Here’s what some of our team members have to say about their experience of working at Blue River.
“One of the special things about Blue River is that it is a nurturing environment that encourages growth. When I started here in 2016, I worked on the factory floor, in pasteurising, dryer operating and dry mixing.
I was always given opportunities to do new things and my mistakes were treated as learning experiences. Today I oversee the whole production line, leading others to deliver products we can be proud of and helping them to grow their skillsets.”
Shift Supervisor
Wade Isiah
“I started off milking sheep when Blue River owned farms, and then moved into the Blue River Sheep Milk Café in 2015. When the café closed, the team here trained me to move into an administrative role. One of the best things about Blue River is how family friendly it is.
My hours are flexible so I can do school drop offs and pick ups, and the company helps with solutions for childcare when needed.”
Inventory Coordinator
Siobhan McIntyre
“I started working at Blue River in casual employment while I was studying at SIT, and once I completed my study, they offered me a full-time position. Blue River is like a big family to me – they truly care and create a sense of belonging.
I appreciate the opportunity to make change and improve the business through my role in IT, and the way we have a diverse team who are all passionate about working together to solve challenges.”
